Commonplace books may be on my list of assignments for the spring. I am excited about the idea of changing the structure of my comp II class in the spring.

what are you going to have them do with the commonplace books? i like the idea, but i wonder how you get students to view them as something useful and different from a journal, like i'm sure they've all had to keep for an english class at some point in their school careers. i also wonder how the instructor can incorporate them into the curriculum without treating them like journals, without coming into class once a week and telling the students, "okay, get out your cb's and respond to this for the first ten minutes."
what are your plans for them?
